HBO has released the long-awaited miniseries "The Undoing", which has Nichole Kidman and Hugh Grant in the lead roles. So let's get started with the pilot of David E. Kelley's new show...
The star, the creator, and the murder after a school-related function returned to HBO only this time the leads doctors. Following "A Very English Scandal" Hugh Grant might be playing a character with negative shades.
So in the pilot, we got introduced to the Frasers, their interests, and their friends. We also were introduced to the Alveses whose son has got into the same high school as the Fraser kid by scholarship. We only got a little story other than these small characterizations. But the direction was really good (except those HBO standard creepy shots), even the small details were greatly captured.
The main problem as I mentioned above is the lack of detail for each character, which really makes us feel nothing when the person who is dead is revealed. This applies the same to the leads as well, because other than they being super-rich we don't anything about them. Is Johnathan really feeling sad for his patients or is Grace a really kind character? These are the questions that should be answered immediately than later.
Little Things:
I definitely think they both lie about the reason for not buying a dog
A simple first thought is that the actress Janel Moloney, who played Matt's bed-ridden wife in The Leftovers is not a great suit for the character here
They really have to step up their game in the weeks ahead for a place on HBO's best miniseries shelf
Episode Rating: B+
