The last episode of this year's This is Us aired yesterday and it has some heartfelt moments along with its unnecessary twists.
This week's episode is a double "Jack"pot as we got to see two different past storylines running through the episode. Both the storylines has Kevin in the center. The first flashback happens when the Big Three are toddlers in which Jack and Rebecca try to let go Kevin's cry during the night. In the other one an exhausted Kevin, turns to his brother for his help in memorising the football plays. In the present we get to see that Kevin is trying to win a Oscar while Kate has some unnecessary flashback to tell. The Randall's storyline is played only for laughs and doesn't have a stronger impact over the episode.
Kevin is really growing up well in the movie industry and we might even see him nominated for an Oscar let alone win it. Kate and Toby might even be finalized by Ellie as the adoptive parents. Randall's story doesn't much contribute to this episode. But I think he might get some meatier role in the second part of this season.
So this season may live up to its tagline "This season changes us forever."by adding some unnecessary plot points. First we got to see that Randall's birth mother may be still alive and now we might see Kate being pregnant at the age of 18. This twists seems unnecessary forme now. This is just my opinion and I still hope that these plotlines would have a satisfying ending. The one thing that I really hate about #thisisus is the fact that they always go for a cheap mid-season cliff hanger.
