Though not a lot happened in these two episodes, it was packed with enough laughs. So let's get into the review...
In "The Trough" Jonah's emotional state after the breakup was explored and it was the best plot in these two episodes. While Garrett and Dina find the titular secret area and they rekindle their love which forms the plot for the next episode too. Cheyenne follows Carol to get negative information about her for the lawsuit but forms a friendship with her.
And in the "Ground Rules" we see Jonah mentor Tony while trying to get Nia to go on a date with him. While this happens Mateo tries to make Cheyenne a better floor supervisor.
As I said in the previous breakdowns these situations may not be new for a long-running sitcom but all lies in the freshness of the execution. These two episodes fall under this category. And like I said the way they handle Jonah's breakdown was fresh and it was perfectly layered.
Dina and Garrett's storyline is all set up for its final run in the show. They are now the will they won't they couple of the season. This is the plot that I hope has a better storyline because it may feel old and cliche once they get deep into the relationship.
The other storylines serve as the customary plots. Some plots which stand out are Cheyenne and Carol, Kelly coming back, and Glenn's economic way of handling the departure of Amy.
Little Things:
Carol being Carol was amazing. We might have guessed that Carol would do something to have leverage over Cheyenne. The final reveal was very good.
I was very afraid that Jonah and Nia might have a romantic turn from the season start. But thankfully it was handled well. It was very comic at the end too, by concluding it with Jonah and Garrett's conversation.
I feel that Mateo's character is being left out in these episodes.
