Review Bytes [S02E34]: The Falcon and The Winter Soldier [S01E01]

The first episode of a new Marvel show had its debut this week and let us talk about it.

Even if one ignores the big action sequences, this episode feels legitly good. This can be attributed to the fact that their production value is super good which also adds an extra layer to the show. The tone of this show is more grounded and feels like it is in the Captain America: Winter Soldier territory.

The show, for now, feels like the perfect character study of the leads. Be it with Yori for Bucky or Sarah for Sam it gradually increases their respective character arcs. Even though both their stories still revolve around Captain America it is finally good to see their own stories too. The story has a lot of a heart too, which is what I love about the show.

The scene in the bank was so good and it also clears how a superhero makes his living. The banker's boundary-less questions are totally in contrast with the passer-by Sam meets in Tunisia. The way they showed this contrast in the people was very welcoming.

The way the people dealt with the blip has been slowly started to be fully conveyed through these Disney+ shows. These are some of the important aspects of MCU currently but it can't be shown in a 2-hour movie. So this kinda short show perfectly serves as the platform for the die-hard fans.

Coming to the plot, this episode serves as a good pilot which for the most part did not deal high with high stakes. They have introduced a new group of terrorists called Flag-smashers or LAF, who wants a borderless world. This idea is perfect for this show to deal with along with what is patriotism.

This is the show which I can enjoy the most without any theories and such. It is because the show is setting up to be a perfect character study of two of the underused MCU characters.

Episode: A-

Little Things:

  • Not only the opening sequence but all the stunt sequences are very well done.
