The show aired its second episode today and the story starts has started to shape into something great.
Mare, after her phone call, visits the creek to find the body of Erin. Detective Colin played by Evan Peters is introduced to be the County detective who came here to assist Mare in the missing girl case. As the story progresses the detective duo questions the various people for clues. The personal life of Mare also takes precedence in this episode. It is revealed that she had a son who has committed suicide. And she is worried that her grandson might have the same medical issues as his late father.
This episode was jam-packed with the story and good character interactions. The introduction of Evan Peters also makes the show a little better. His calm and refreshing demeanor is welcome for the audience in this moody world of Mare. The plot moves at a considerably quick pace which helps the show to push more story.
The show is very clever in setting up its twists and turns. At this point there at least 3-4 people who could be the suspect, which is great. Each of those characters is also given a good amount of time in this episode.
The last dialogue, "You are deserving to be saved" in the trailer increases the expectation even more. I am hoping that the show builds on this momentum and never looks back.
Episode Rating: A-
Little Things:
The way they mix the personal and professional lives of Mare is good and I hope it stays the same way
Giving Evan Peters considerable time to settle in will surely help the show in a huge way
So far, the persons in the suspects list are Frank Sheehan, Deacon Burton, and Dan Hastings. Casting Guy Pearce in this role also makes one add him to the list.
