Another week another enthralling episode of television. That said let us now get to the breakdown...
On suspension too Mare can't get herself out of the work as another girl goes missing. With this new case, the leads now able to figure out the connection between all three cases. Apart from the work front, Mare is now asked on a date by two guys. Jean Smart has suffered a minor injury due to the sequence of events involving Siobhan. Dawn was given hope for a second with the phone call from a stranger saying that he is the one who has Katie.
The inter-personal connections took precedence in this week's episode. The way they allow the characters to be the center rather than the mystery is such a good move. The scene involving Dylan and Erin's son in the hospital, Jean Smart trying to snack something sneakily, Carrie's frustration are some of the scenes which fit the personal connection perfectly. Not only this episode but the show as a whole perfectly captures each person's emotion.
The way they shot the whole Dawn meeting the stranger scene was perfectly shot. The cinematography was so good in that scene. The investigation of Jess has a very good angle too. Fitting in Jess' mother in the background and her reactions to each revelation are just so good. Apart from cinematography this episode also excelled in blending the humor well.
Guy Pearce's character Richard has only one scene in this episode as well. This means that he won't be the suspect most probably. But even in that single scene, his character's well-defined actions carry the character forward. This is absolutely necessary to record that Jean Smart is stealing every scene as Helen. Her conversations with Mare or when she is trying to eat something or when her injury happens are made special by Jean Smart's presence.
At this point, I am equally invested in the central mystery and the character arc of most of the characters. This is what I expected from an HBO show and I am very happy about it. Hoping the show continues this streak.
Episode Rating: A
Little Things:
kate Winslet's is so good especially in the scene where she confronts her late son. I also heard in a Podcast that Kate Winslet is mastering her accent
So at this point, anyone can be the suspect. The one's who can be excluded are Deacon (the latest trailers indicates this), Frank (his character's importance is reduced in the last two episodes), Dan (I don't think he is at least at this point), and finally Richard (I think the writers are using him only to distract the audience)
I have a hunch that this is done by two people
One of our Instagram followers have a very good theory that Zabel is the prime suspect
Let us see the mystery unfold in the remaining three episodes...
