The next episodes are here and let us talk about them...
In the third episode, Ava tries to reconnect with her ex-girlfriend. Deborah's past and the amount of success and her struggles come to the picture along with her doing some unplanned rounds of standups at present. The fourth episode steps into the complicated mother-daughter relationship that the showrunners promised.
The little moments are where the show hits the maximum. Like the sudden standup bit on the bus and the conversation about the three chicken parms on the phone. Those two moments are my personal favorite of these episodes. Deborah raising her hand in the bus to show that she's there and her going through each bill of Ava adds an extra layer to her character as is her relationship with DJ, her daughter. Deborah's chance of being the first lady to host a late-night show makes her backstory even good.
Having Paul W Downs playing Jimmy is really good. His character's sweetness and his character's characteristics of trying to help out his clients suit the actor really well. This is a good extension of his character in Broadcity.
