Review Bytes [S02E53]: Mythic Quest [S02E03 & E04]

VK

So much important things have happened in the quarters of Mythic Quest and let's get into it...

These two episodes felt much more cohesive rather than the first two episodes which felt like stand-alone episodes. The show has now slowly building up the story for this season and we are even introduced to the main baddie for this season. Recapping, the third episode launched the battle royale inside the game and the fourth episode focusses on the success and its risk to the entire game itself.

The show now has identified the areas which works best for them. Slowly involving testers into the main storylines is one such good thing. The conversation between Rachel and Ian in the fourth episode was so good. It clears the way the show is going with its characters (at least the supporting roles for now). And one of the best things the show has done till date long with its quartine episodes is pairing Jo with Brad. That pair is so similar and works best for the show. Jo making the case for CW in the third episode worked well due to this.

Coming to the main plot in the Breaking Bad is the introduction to Brad's brother who maybe the big baddie for this season. As we said in the previous episode's breakdown, giving Brad the necessary role in this season is a very good thing. The baddie being a blood relation is not new for the show, but it feels much more personal here. Pootie was just trying to connect with his dad. But here taking the whole company down along with his brother is exciting to see. As Zack's character seems not only interesting but also intelligent to do it. We'll see how this story ends.

The leads especially Ian is having a rather quiet season so far. Giving the space for the supporting characters is good idea as it is developing the story in a good way. But reducing Ian's character means that his personal storylines are reduced . It also feels like they are avoiding the Pootie storyline.

The above paragraph is not an issue it is just an observation. Weirdly I am liking it more this way.

Episodes Rating: A-

Little Things:

  • CW's rant about his views in the third episode was funny and Jo captalising on it was the perfect Jo reply.

  • Rachel being asked by Ian to present her ideas and her replies are the best segment for me in these two episodes. Does this mean we are going to see a mentor-mentee relationship between them. That would be cool.
