The penultimate episode of the show is here and it is as good as ever. Now let us dive into the breakdown.
Mare is recovering from her injuries and tries to process the death of her colleague and her son. As she is the best detective in her town she is fastracked into the case again. From there on the story perfectly sets up the finale by revealing so much yet keeping the important details closed.
The show has perfectly set everything up till this point even the smaller areas. We shall take one of this week's slightly insignificant scene. Mare tells her psychiatrist that Frank took Drew for his swimming lessons on the day her son died. Later on the episode when we are teased that Drew might drown in the bath tub. But he gets up without any trouble and simply says that he can hold his breathe forever. It might be an overreach. But it had a very good detailing to it and I liked it very much.
Kudos to the writing team for perfectly splitting up the mystery and making us guess till the end. Apart from the police work the personal issues also took a centerstage in this episode. The way Mare is trying connect back with her family is slowly and steadily dealt with. Carrie's emotional status and her capability to be the mother Drew needs are tested. Siobhan's relationships with her girlfriend and her mother is really powerful with the story perfectly set before that.
Still no second scene in any episode for Richard. What is happening? Is he just a high paid guest star with no role. Or is he the mystery killer, which I really don't want to be true unless they have a really good explanation for it. Him being the way he is good and it really suits the Mare's personal front. So I hope there won't any sudden twist revealing that he is the killer (without proper explanation).
So just one episode till the mystery is solved. So who do you think is the prime suspect in this case? My guess is at least two is involved in the murder of Erin. But why did they do it?
Let us hope the ending is perfect.
Episode Rating: A
Little Things:
I think Carrie might give up her custody to Mare, which would be sad because she is clearly working hard for that right now.
