The second season of underrated HBO comedy Betty concluded this week. Let's get into the review...
From the very first episode, this season sets the mood and the character arcs for this season. The lively cast and a sense of optimism in the script pulled me into the season from the get-go. They deal with Covid in the season which though being a tough topic the writing crew managed to keep it as light as possible.
Each character's journey was properly laid out and perfectly executed. Their problems, struggles, and conclusion were neatly done. This makes this season more consistent in comparison with the first season. The above said optimism in the story makes it an easy viewing too. For this matter, I prefer a binge-watch session would be better.
Janay's character was slightly sidelined this season. Her story is definitely one of the important ones in the whole season, but her character's lesser interaction with the other leads might be the cause. Her character is the one who gives that sense of hope in this time period which turned out to be the reason for this season's success.
Every other character, even the newly introduced ones were given a good role to perform. The six-episode limit is a huge advantage to the show and they have used that nicely.
Season Rating: A-
Little Things:
Without any doubt, the skateboarding was as brilliant as ever
The production design and the cinematography for this season were so good
