Schmigadoon, a limited (?) musical comedy came to an end today, and the ride was so much fun. That said let us get into the review.
The leads have to find true love in order for them to get out of Schmigadoon, a town filled with people who burst into random musicals to express their emotions. The plot is simple but the execution made the show better.
For me, this one is this year's "The Boys", in terms of the fun quotient. A very likable ensemble, led by the perfectly cast Cecily Strong and Keegan Michael Key as leads. Even though many didn't get enough screen time, their presence was felt throughout. Same with the songs, though not all were catchy the co-creator Cinco Paul made sure that most of them were good.
The predictable flow is the major drawback of the show. But that predictability was countered with the show's runtime and the episode count. Every episode stayed under the 30-minute mark which helped the writers to fill them with only the interesting choices made by a character.
The show was so fun to watch. This made me tune into the show every week. I'm gonna miss the weekly episodes now.
Season Rating: A-
