This show is without a doubt one of the most important shows of the last decade. It is both a sad and a happy feeling knowing that we only have eight more episodes after today. I'm sad because it's ending but happier knowing that they are finishing their run in better shape. Noine Noine...

The first episode revolves around the guilt and the mental suffering the group faces due to the turn of events that happened last summer. Here we face the moral conundrum of good and bad policing or good ones and bad ones in the words of Jake. Though the episode is political and deals with some important issues, it didn't forget to make us laugh at frequent intervals. Captain Holt's statement neatly sums up the last one and half years.

The second episode deals with the relationship issue that Holt and Kevin have. This episode involves zero police work and it turns into a quasi-family comedy. The chemistry which is on point among the actors makes the show return in full force. This episode had so so many laugh-at-loud moments.

Making a police drama is in itself a difficult beast in the current circumstances and so a workplace comedy is never gonna be easy. The early decision to end the show with this season made the writers bring the A-Game and it is evidently clear that are trying to tread the rope carefully. I just hope that they get into some actual police work too. Though a season-long line plot would be difficult with just eight episodes in hand, I just want them to do some interesting case works before the finale.

After watching these two episodes I am more than happy that the show is back. My main concern is that they should not be just checking the boxes, like a Halloween episode or return of Gina one or a Doug Judy one. If they make the best out of it, then it will be so wonderful.

Episodes Rating: A

Little Things:

  • Rosa quitting the force is understandable but it will be more difficult now to incorporate her into the main plot. I hope they find an interesting way to keep her in the mix in every episode.

  • Hitchcock retired as early as he could. Haha
